"Women’s quartet ELECTRA made their public smile"

Lots of men would rather keep strong women away from them. Witches & Bitches, in German “Hexen & Huren”, with personalities who scare quite a few men, is the theme of the “anbruch” evening in the Halle 400 at the Kieler Förde. Following the country focus, the women’s quartet especially focuses on Dutch composers. The quartet draws a charming line through the ticklish theme, in between avant-garde of the 21st century and rock/pop. Underlying are videos: short, up-to-date and with a lot of sense for situational comedy.

The corpulent little man in the opening piece De Aktetas made the public grin…Shopping List of a Poisener by Louis Andriessen for voices and a nail on sandpaper was a ride through witchcraft and slipperiness. Marilyn by Jacob ter Veldhuis put on a seductive show for the singer with a red boa. The composer distinctly socialised with rock music, was (must be) inspired by the Eurhythmics, Peter Gabriel and the Police. Harmony and rhythm are broken as soon as the underlying rock groove gets too easy for the listeners ear…

Conclusion: No man needs to be scared by the very pleasant ELECTRA women. It was an evening which invited us to see and hear the Netherlands differently than in the notorious "ohne Holland".
