Secret loves…is a collection of ‘secret love pieces’ written or arranged for ELECTRA , by composers from around the world. Composers, performers and arrangers followed their heart: according to their own secret love in music, they created works for ELECTRA . The repertoire ranged from the 12th to the 21st century. Some composers created entirely new works, some rearranged their earlier work, others paid homage to their musical heritage through radical but respectful revision. Their wide-ranging efforts crossed genres and cultures and represented extremes in musical creativity.
The first preview of ‘Secret loves…’ took place in Eindhoven in December 2003, and included new works by Jeremy Beck, Elmer Schönberger, and Felix Yanov-Yanovsky. Since then, many of the pieces have been incorporated into our regular repertoire.
